Classes for Ages 5-7
Level 1 Children’s Class Starts April 11 (10 weeks) . Saturdays 9:00-10:00am . $400
The Level 1 Children’s Acting Class meets one hour each week and is a 10 week course designed for ages 5-8. It focuses on Stage Direction, Working Together, Partnering Exercises, Volume and Diction, and eventually creating scenes. Students enjoy acting and learning exercises such as “Mirror Image”, “Living Picture”, and “Dig Dig Dig!” which explores individuality and self-expression. New acting and learning exercises are added from time to time to keep the class exciting and fresh while maintaining its core-value that “Acting is living as truthfully as one can under an imaginary circumstance.”
Classes for Ages 8-10
Level 2 Children’s Class Starts April 7 (10 weeks) Tuesdays 5:00-6:00pm $400
The Level 2 Children’s Class for ages 8-10 (or those with more stage experience) builds upon the core values of Level 1. Everyone learns that ‘the character is on the page, but the role is on the stage’ in this class. The main goal is to understand that each individual actor brings the role to life.
Classes For Tweens!
The “TWEEN” Class Starts April 8 (10 weeks) Wednesdays 5:00-6:00pm $400
This new class is specifically for ages 10 -12. They’re not little children anymore, and they’re not quite teens…They’re TWEENS! The course builds upon what they may already know about acting, allowing them to become more self-aware and more self-confident within their own ability level. The focus is on dealing with other actors while creating scenes among their own age group, and issues that are relevant to them.
Classes For Teens
Teen Acting Class Starts April 5 (8 weeks) Sundays 6:00-7:30pm $400
Being true to yourself is the main ingredient in the Teen Class. Students meet for 90 minutes per week for eight weeks with the option of doing scene work with a partner or a monologue. The class also includes improvisation, scene creation, and dialogue within the class about the work being done.
Classes For Adults
Adult Acting Class Starts April 7 (8 weeks) Tuesdays 7:00-8:30pm $400
The class explores improvisation with the Sanford Meisner technique. The Adult Acting Class will be for actors of all levels, assisting both beginners and those who have made acting a career.
All Media Theatre classes follow the Sanford Meisner Technique, which is based on the premise that, as the legendary acting coach stated, “Acting is living as truthfully as one can under an imaginary circumstance.”
